Personal injury solicitors help soldier claim compensation

If a member of the Army, Royal Navy or RAF were to sustain personal injury in a work accident as a result of their employer's negligence then they have rights as an employee to claim compensation. The Military of Defence is, after all, an employer just like any other and is liable for compensation if any of their employees sustain work injuries while under their care.

This is where our personal injury solicitors come in. The Claim Solicitors have helped thousands of people to successfully claim personal injury compensation following accidents at work and whether you are a farm worker, a trucker, a bank manager or a corporal in the Army, then we are here to help.

Serviceman seeks aid from personal injury solicitors
We received a call from a 19-year-old infantry private in in September 2005 who was seeking the representation of a personal injury solicitor in order to make a no win no fee claim against the MoD for a military accident.

He told us how he had been undertaking some basic training on an assault course that hadn't been maintained properly when he sustained a serious wound to his hand which greatly affected the future of his career.

The private was the first of the day to tackle the course and after completing the low ropes and it was his turn to crawl through a tunnel half filled with water. The young soldier crouched down with his hands out in front of him and launched himself into the dark tunnel. Half way through he stumbled and put his hand down on the surface below. He felt a deep, sharp pain radiate through his hand and arm and pulled his hand quickly from the water to find a huge gash across much of his palm filled with a large piece of glass.

He made his way to the end of the tunnel and staggered out, elevating his arm to try and control the bleeding, which was now gushing. The 19-year-old was taken to the medic where the glass was removed and the hand stitched. However, the doctor feared that too many of the hands tendons were severed for the hand to ever regain full working order.

This was devastating news to the private who was due to begin specialist firearms training the next week and he soon realised that this could mean the end of his career in the forces. He was granted sick-leave for an initial three months while his hand healed slowly after a series of infections and an investigation was carried out into why there was broken glass inside part of the assault course.

After several weeks, it was found that the MoD had been negligent and the young soldier was informed by a colleague that he would have a good case for work injury compensation and advised him to seek out a specialist personal injury solicitor.

Using the computer at the barracks, the young private researched personal injury solicitors and came across The Claim Solicitors, the accident at work experts. He filled out a call back request form with details of his accident and injury and we called him back that evening, as specified.

We told him that we could take his case on and appointed him a no win no fee solicitor who operates in Hampshire, where he was also based. Our solicitor then contacted him and talked him through each stage of the claims process, without using confusing legal jargon and offered him free legal advice along the way. The case went very smoothly seeing as the MoD had already admitted liability and the claim was a success.

A settlement of £44,000 was made for the serious hand injury, medical expenses, loss of future earnings and loss of congenial employment, before the case reached court.
