Malaysian hotel admits liability for compensation claim
A Malaysian holidaymaker has been awarded compensation after making a holiday claim for the chemical burns he suffered while staying in a resort there.
The 32-year-old commercial accountant made is holiday claim after coming into contact with cleaning solvents containing calcium hydroxide while visiting the hotel complex. Media there report that the chemicals contaminated a spa bath in the man's hotel bathroom.
Although the claimant's burns were not that serious, he also suffered breathing difficulties as a result of inhaling the substance, and eventually had to return to Malaysia for treatment.
Compensation for his holiday claim was eventually settled between the accountant's personal injury solicitor and the tour operator, who admitted liability just before the compensation claim was due to hit court.
