Pulborough work injury claim successful for stable hand
A young man, who worked in a racing stable in Pulborough, West Sussex, has now received compensation after having made a work injury claim.
The accident occurred in 2009 when he was steam cleaning a stable from the top of an eight foot scaffold. He fell when the plank he was working from tipped and he suffered personal injury.
The victim sustained fractures to both of his heels and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has still not been able to go back to work at his equestrian employment.
Claiming a breach of the Work at Height Regulations, the man launched his compensation claim against his employer who is a top horse-racing trainer.
It has not been reported whether his employer pleaded guilty to breaking the regulations, but the stable-hand was awarded a £127,500 settlement for his pain, suffering and loss of earnings.
All individuals who have sustained injury in employment could make work injury claims.
