Engineer loses fingers in machine
An engineer from Colchester is to make a work accident compensation claim after his hand was crushed in a machine at work.
The worker was attempting to fix a piece of machinery when his hand was crushed by a moving part of the machine.
The engineer lost several fingers and part of his thumb in the incident, rendering his right hand almost useless.
He is claiming that his personal injury was caused by inadequate training and a failure to provide safety guards around moving parts on the machinery.
The worker's career as an engineer is now in jeopardy due to his disability because he finds carrying out everyday tasks a struggle.
He is now seeking work accident compensation from his former employer for his injury.
