Elderly woman could make no win, no fee claim for compensation
A 90-year-old has been lucky to escape serious personal injuries after falling down a three inch pothole in Royston town centre.
Olive Wood, of The Beeches, may consider contacting a personal injury solicitor to make a no win, no fee claim after sustaining bruising to her arms and legs in the fall on the 20th October.
Mrs Wood, who is short sighted and suffers from arthritis, had been released from hospital only two days before the accident occurred.
The pensioner was walking towards The Old Barn Day Centre when the wheel to her trolley became stuck in a hole as she stepped off a pavement.
Mrs Wood fell into the road and had to wait for members of the public to help her stand up.
She said, "I was left very shaken. I had to put my hand up to stop the cars.
"I have lost my confidence and it takes me longer to get out of bed because of my injuries."
She is now calling for Hertfordshire County Council to maintain the roads before anybody else suffers serious personal injuries as a result of falling down a pothole.
"There are holes in the road everywhere in Royston, and they need to be filled in before a similar accident happens," she said.
A Hertfordshire spokesman commented on the accident and said, "Roads and pavements are inspected at least once a year in the county, or once a month in busy town centres."
Mrs Wood has been severely affected by the accident and may consider making a no win, no fee compensation claim for her personal injuries.
