Mechanic seeks suit after horror Ferrari road test

A car technician from Kent is seeking road accident compensation from his former employer after crashing a 170mph super-car.

The 31-year-old was left paralysed from the neck down after the Ferrari 348 TS he was test driving went off the road in November 2008.

He claims the owner of the Maidstone showroom told him to drive the vehicle at illegal speeds to make sure it was running smoothly.

The car crashed on the A274 in Kent after travelling close to 80mph, the Telegraph reports.

The technician lost control of the vehicle, which smashed into another car before leaving the road and colliding with a clump of trees.

Now wheelchair-bound and needing round-the-clock care, he says his employers were negligent and that testing high performance vehicles on public roads was unsafe.

His car accident injury claim is set to be heard later this year, despite the assurances of his former manager.

"Staff are told that under no circumstances can they break the laws of the road and they are never to exceed the speed limit," the garage boss told reporters.

He described the road accident as tragic, but added: "We strongly dispute any claim of negligence on our part."
