Teenager could make no win no fee claim against hotel
A teenager who suffered a serious back injury after falling down a lift shaft may consider making a no win no fee compensation claim.
The 18-year-old from North Wales was staying at the New President Hotel in Blackpool when the near fatal accident happened.
Whilst talking on his mobile, the doors to the lift opened and he stepped out into what he believed to be the lift's car.
Instead, the teenager fell two floors down an empty shaft, suffering serious personal injuries as he plummeted to the ground.
An ambulance was called to the scene of the accident and the young man was rushed to Victoria Hospital with a suspected spinal injury.
A police spokesperson said, "He stepped out into the lift but there was no lift there. He sustained serious injuries and we are waiting to get a full statement from him."
In the future, the teenager may consider contacting personal injury solicitors to make a no win no fee compensation claim against the hotel for his serious back injury.
An investigation into the serious accident is being carried out by the Health and Safety Executive.
