Teen dies in quad bike accident

An 18-year-old boy has died from personal injuries suffered in a holiday accident in Greece.

The teenager was on a quad bike when he fell off the machine and was hit by a passing taxi after a night out with friends on the island of Zante.

The Edinburgh boy was part of a group of 35 friends celebrating the end of exams in the popular coastal resort of Laganas when the accident happened early on Sunday morning.

Emergency services declared the young man dead at the scene of the accident. His relatives have flown out to the island to visit the scene of the accident.

Most of his friends, who were three days into the fortnight-long break, have returned to Scotland and begun fundraising to repatriate their friend's body.

One of the boy's friends said," He always had a smile on his face. He loved life."

An investigation into the young man's holiday accident has been launched to ensure no one was liable for his death.
