Compensation for girl shaken as a baby

A personal injury solicitor has helped a brain damaged woman win damages of over £5 million.

The Manchester-based compensation lawyer represented the 21-year-old and pursued her personal injury compensation claim after she was shaken by her father as a baby.

Her father shook her so hard when she was just three months old that she suffered extensive brain injuries and meant she would require care for the rest of her life. He was jailed as a result of the assault and the youngster was taken into care before being adopted.

The 21-year-old is now confined to a wheelchair and has severe behavioural difficulties, meaning she requires 24-hour supervision. The cost of her care is estimated to be around £180,000 a year and her recent damages award will be used to fund this.

The woman's personal injury solicitor commented on the successful compensation claim, saying, "It's an unbelievably satisfying settlement. The award will bring much-needed relief and help to ensure the victim is comfortable for the rest of her life."
