Passengers seek compensation for fatal car accident

Six survivors of a horrific M4 car crash which killed their friend are seeking road traffic accident compensation from the tyre manufacturing company they believe is responsible.

The friends had been travelling back from a religious pilgrimage in West Wales when the car they were in suffered a tyre blow-out which caused the vehicle to flip over.

One female passenger was thrown across the central reservation and onto the opposite side of the motorway. The 26-year-old woman died from her injuries.

Another two passengers were also thrown out of the car and into the crash barrier, but managed to survive their ordeal.

Following the incident police were forced to close both lanes of the motorway for almost seven hours.

The surviving passengers have now launched a claim against the Japanese tyre manufacturing company.

Lawyers representing the passengers, claim that the accident came as a result of a manufacturing flaw which caused the thread of the tyre to detach itself from the wheel resulting in the tyre-burst.

The company denies liability and argues that the driver of the vehicle is responsible for the tyre failing and that an external impact of some description could have caused the fault.

Liability is set to be decided in a hearing at London's High Court. It is also reported that should the road accident compensation claims uk.htm">accident compensation claim against the company fail, a second claim against the driver of the vehicle, who also denies liability, will be made..
