Scuba diving accident compensation
04/11/2010

Man wins diving claim

An aeronautical engineer from California in the United States has been awarded scuba diving accident compensation for the emotional and physical injury he suffered as a result of being abandoned by a boat charter company in waters off Long Island.

The scuba diving accident compensation claimant, now 51-years-old, made a no win, no fee claim for infliction of emotional distress, negligence, fraud and skin cancer, all of which, said his personal injury lawyer, were caused by the ordeal of being left to fend for his own life by the boat charter company.

He had been one of twenty divers aboard the vessel. However, after a scuba dive at one site the 51-year-old was left drifting alone 400ft from the boat, with the operator recording him as having returned aboard.

Amazingly, the claimant was only metres away, blowing his safety whistle.

The claimant said of his ordeal, "It has been an ordeal. But I wanted to seek changes in the scuba industry. Others will benefit."

His £1.1 million scuba diving accident compensation payout includes sums for skin cancer, which the claimant says was caused by being left for hours in the sea, under bright sunlight.

It was only after the claimant was spotted by a boat carrying boy scouts that his life was saved.
