Advent recalls several models of laptops

Customers of Advent's laptops are being advised to check the battery on their notebooks after they were found to be faulty by the company.

Advent has issued a product recall on several models of its notebooks after concerns were raised that the batteries had the potential to cause personal injuries and lead to product liability compensation claims.

In a statement about the recall, Advent said, "Customer safety is always our priority and we have identified that some batteries do not meet our strict quality and safety standards."

Customers can check if their notebooks are affected by logging on to the company's website or by ringing its helpline number which can also be found on the Trading Standards website.

Those affected by the product recall are advised to stop using the battery immediately and switch to mains power via the A/C cable instead.

No product liability claims for the faulty batteries have yet been reported.
