New compensation claim cases for faulty pushchairs

At the end of last year, it was reported that one million folding pushchairs manufactured by British company Maclaren were being recalled in the UK due to product liability claims made over the hinge mechanism.

Reports of children losing their fingers after getting them caught in the hinge mechanism caused the manufacturer to recall thousands of its pushchairs in the USA. Since then, 15 families have sought personal injury advice for making a compensation claim for injuries ranging from lacerations to fingers through to fingertips being cut off as if guillotined.

As the pushchairs conform to European safety standards, they have not been recalled in the UK but the company has agreed to offer British owners of affected Maclaren buggies the same safety kit which US consumers have been offered.

The affected models include the Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, Techno XLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.

UK owners of the affected pushchairs are advised to get in touch with a product liability solicitor if they or their children have suffered a personal injury from the product.
