Work accident compensation awarded to phone shop worker
A phone shop employee is likely to be awarded work accident compensation after sustaining a severe personal injury which left her disabled.
The 22-year-old shop worker had been working in her local branch in Eastbourne, East Sussex, when a stack of computers fell and crushed her foot.
The accident left the young woman with rare complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), which causes a burning pain and is known to spread to other parts of the body. Due to the severity of her condition she has been left permanently disabled.
A London High Court writ claims that the work accident also caused her severe psychological issues as well as personal injuries which have both significantly reduced her future job prospects.
The phone retail giant has admitted liability for the accident but it has not yet been decided how much work accident compensation will be awarded.
