Big Brother star makes personal injury claim

Singer Pete Burns has announced that he is suing his plastic surgeon for medical negligence after he allegedly failed to remove his lip implants correctly.

Burns made the personal injury claim against his former Harley Street surgeon, stating that a procedure to remove his implants left him looking like he had been "mutilated with a Stanley knife".

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant claims that his career was ruined after cosmetic surgery left his top lip hanging off.

He said, "It has taken away my life and my career. I saw doctors in London who said the only option was to amputate my lips. I was suicidal.

"Eventually I found a doctor in Italy who knew the product and said he could remove it. I had 17 months of procedures and now I'm back having more."

Burns' personal injury solicitor, Auriana Griffiths, believes that the surgeon used the wrong product on the singer's lips.

She said, "As a result of the damage caused by the treatment, Pete has been unable to fully pursue his career in music and in the media."

The personal injury claim for clinical negligence is still proceeding.
