A pain in the foot gets its just reward

With the help of some personal injury solicitors, a refuse collector from Sandwell Metropolitan District Council has won a £3,000 compensation payout from his employers.

The man developed a painful inflammatory condition to the heel of the foot called Planatar Fasciitis after repeatedly having his request for a pair of correctly fitting work boots turned down.

In the interests of health and safety, refuse collectors are required to wear special protective footwear. However, after realising the boots provided for him by the council did not fit correctly, the refuse collector was forced to wait four months for a replacement pair.

While talking to www.workplacelaw.net a personal injury solicitor representing the man said, "This case highlights the need for employers to take the protective clothing of their employees seriously. [He] should not have been forced to wear ill-fitted boots, which resulted in personal injury, nor should he have expected to wait four months before a replacement pair was made available."

Every year, many sick or injured workers require help from personal injury solicitors to make no win no fee compensation claims following failure by their employers to follow The Personal Equipment at Work Regulations.
