An influx of E.Coli claims?

Personal injury solicitors are predicting that one of the UK's largest supermarket chains will soon face multiple product liability claims after it was at the centre of an outbreak of E.Coli.

A personal injury solicitor from a leading legal website commented, "We often experience peak web traffic after incidents such as these as people want to know their legal position.

"Claims for compensation can be made under the Consumer Protection Act and [the supermarket] are likely to have to foot the bill, although they may be able to pass the cost to the original supplier if they can prove the infection was in place before the food arrived at their store."

"Anyone consuming the infected meat will have a good claim for compensation and depending upon the severity of the infection compensation payments could run into thousands of pounds."

Though the current E.Coli outbreak is one of the most serious and highly-publicized in the UK in recent years, personal injury solicitors deal with compensation claims relating to E.Coli contamination every year.
