Personal injury solicitors could help injured man make claim

A man whose house blew up after he lit a cigarette could receive a large sum of personal injury compensation after council officials finally admitted liability for the gas leak.

The injured man may consider contacting personal injury solicitors after the local council in Salford admitted they were responsible for the serious gas explosion that left him suffering from 43% burns in 2000.

The man, who now lives in Bolton, said, "I remember waking up to a huge orange ball of flames and seeing stars above me - the wall of the bedroom next to mine had been blown away.

"I suffered damage to a lung and learned later that for the first 12 hours after the explosion it was touch and go whether I would survive.

"I had two skin grafts to both my legs as I was screaming in agony from the pain. But the surgeons at Withington Hospital did a brilliant job."

The council could face paying a bill of £100,000 after admitting liability for the near fatal accident on the day the trial was set to go ahead at Manchester County Court.

The man commented on the seven-year legal battle and said, "I am so glad it is all over. It is disgusting that it has taken so long. The council should have admitted they had ultimate responsibility at the beginning."

In the future, he may consider speaking to personal injury solicitors to make a no win, no fee accident claim for injury compensation.
