Worker receives payout for head injury

Personal injury solicitors have secured a head injury damages settlement for a woman who suffered a severe concussion as a result of an accident at work.

The 28-year-old mother had been building a stock trolley when the top shelf fell and struck her on the head.

Despite returning to work only four weeks after the day of the workplace accident, the woman quickly realised that her capacity to work had been severely affected by persistent headaches and fatigue; soon after she was diagnosed with Post Concussion Syndrome (PCS).

As such, she approached her union and, following advice, decided to instruct a personal injury solicitor firm to proceed with a claim for accident compensation.

She commented, "The accident left me with terrible headaches, which could sometimes last up to two weeks. I would feel dizzy and everything would be in slow motion. It could be frightening when I had a bad turn. Fortunately I'm now fully recovered but it does not make up for the time I lost out on."

A personal injury solicitor from the firm that represented the woman's head injury claim said it was "pleased to have brought the legal claim to a successful conclusion."

However the solicitor added that the "accident could have been avoided had more attention been paid to previous complaints."

Settlement was reached out-of-court for an undisclosed sum.
