9/11 dust clouds caused increase in asthma

New York personal injury lawyers are still counting the cost of the Twin Towers' collapse in 2001 as new statistics have revealed an increase in the number of cases of asthma diagnosed in people directly involved in, or living or working in close proximity to the associated dust clouds.

A recent study of people exposed to the dust thrown up after the terrorist attack on The World Trade Centre (WTC) has shown that 13.5% have developed asthma which compares unfavourably with those who had no exposure, 8.4% of whom now have asthma.

The statistics were compiled from over 46,000 adult respondents from November 2006 to December 2007.

The 71,000 registered victims of the WTC collapse consist of rescue and recovery workers, lower Manhattan office workers, nearby residents and registered passers-by. The new research has revealed that people closest to the attack have the highest incidence of asthma and other respiratory diseases.

It was concluded that the ramifications of the 9/11 terrorist atrocity are still not fully known and personal injury lawyers for the victims of the environmental disaster will continue to review new information in a bid to ensure all victims get the damages compensation they deserve.
