Personal injury lawyers represent schoolgirl's claim

A schoolgirl from Hull who fell through a window during a school bus accident has instructed personal injury lawyers to commence a claim for injury compensation against the company responsible for running the bus service.

The 12-year-old had been on the school-bound morning service when, along with another girl in her form, she stood on the raised luggage area and leant against a window; however, unlike the other girl, she fell from the bus when the window gave way.

It is understood that, after receiving a letter from the girl's personal injury lawyers to notify them of the claim, the bus company handed over CCTV footage of the accident to the Hull Daily Mail.

Police are said to be considering launching a prosecution against the driver of the bus to establish whether she violated the terms of the Road Traffic Act by failing to protect her load.

However, the bus operator has expressed its unequivocal support for the driver, saying, "The children were messing around and it is difficult to control.

"If a driver stops the bus and threaten to not go any further, the children are happy because they don't go to school.

"Our company would then have the school ringing to ask where we are – it is a catch-22.

"There is no way you can control them while driving the bus."

The personal injury lawyers being instructed to represent the girl's case have yet to see the CCTV footage of the incident.
