Broken golf club leaves golfer permanently injured

A golfer has made a personal injury claim against a golf shop in Brisbane after a club bought from the shop snapped during a backswing, leaving the player with a permanent hand injury.

The 39-year-old golfer has not been able to play golf since the pitching wedge broke at the handle on the 17th hole at a golf club in March.

The metal cut through a tendon at the base of his right-hand ring finger forcing the player to undergo two operations to repair it.

"I had no idea what happened at first," the player said.

"The club hit me on the head and then I realised my finger was cut and I couldn't move it."

The golfer was off work for several months and is still unable to move the finger making everyday tasks like writing, typing and cooking very difficult.

The player is also struggling to play golf since the incident as he has lost the ability to grip with his left hand.

He has now filed a compensation claim against the golf shop for his personal injury.
