Rollerblading pensioner strikes dog walker

A 90-year-old has been ordered to pay £6,000 compensation to a dog walker who he hit while roller blading in the park.

The pensioner struck the dog walker while on his roller blades, causing injuries to the walker's neck, back and legs.

The nonagenarian admitted the accident but refused to admit liability, stating that both the dog and the walker ran into his path.

Witnesses to the scene however confirmed the dog walker's account that the pensioner was out of control and hit the claimant, knocking him off his feet.

The judge ruled in favour of the dog walker, awarding him damages for personal injury and loss of earnings, but said that it could be paid at an amount of £5 a week as the pensioner has no savings or investments to pay for the claim.

The judge also suggested that the senior citizen should give up roller blading in the future to prevent against any future compensation claims.

The senior citizen has decided to appeal against the personal injury claim.
