Wife pays compensation over assault

A recently married personal injury solicitor from Wales has received £100 in personal injury compensation from his wife after she struck him on the head with an empty bottle of pinot grigio.

Brecon Magistrates' Court listened to details of how the personal injury solicitor was left in shocked state, 'dazed and bleeding', following the attack. The personal injury compensation he receives takes account of the fact that he suffered two open head wounds as a result of the assault.

The prosecuting solicitor representing the victim of the assault described the attack to the court, "She was screaming and he told her to calm down because she was drunk.

"She snatched the newspaper from him and grabbed an empty bottle of wine from the kitchen table. She hit him over the head with the bottle and threw a wine glass at him.

"She walked out of the room leaving him dazed with his head bleeding. As she left the room she turned to him and said, 'You have made me do it'."

In addition to ordering the personal injury solicitor's wife to pay £100 in personal injury compensation, the court also gave her a nine month community order and told her she must pay her husband £43 in legal costs.
