ABI urge compensation reform
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) have once again called on the government to speed up the personal injury claim process, criticising the current system as being both too ponderous and too prone to unnecessary legal costs.
They also voiced their belief that if government recommendations made last year for reforming the personal injury claim process were implemented, fewer people would have to wait lengthy periods to receive compensation awards.
Many people have been quick to point out that insurers have a vested interest in the process, with some speculating that they would be the main beneficiaries of a less exhaustive system. However, the fact that the average car accident compensation claim takes 730 days to settle shows that there is some room for improvement in the resolution of UK personal injury claims.
