Drunk pedestrian hit by truck
A personal injury claim has been made by a pedestrian who was hit by a 44 ton truck in 2007.
The pedestrian, who was drunk at the time of the accident, was struck by the vehicle as it was reversing late at night in a road in Abingdon.
The pedestrian and his friends had been out drinking in the town when the incident occurred.
One of the man's friends had waved at the driver, which he had taken to mean as the road being clear, and he reversed his vehicle. However the pedestrian was caught by the back wheels of the truck and dragged along the road for a significant distance.
Both of the man's arms were broken as well as one of his legs during the incident and he claims he was unable to carry out his plumbing job for seven months due to the severity of his injuries.
He is now seeking accident compensation for his personal injuries as he says the driver was responsible for the incident and should have been travelling at slower speeds so that he could keep an eye on the whereabouts of the men in his mirrors.
If is personal injury claim is successful, he could be awarded a significant compensation amount due to the severity of his injuries and the loss of earnings he suffered.
