Lawyers warn of claim danger for treated pavements
Home owners who decide to clear their paths of snow and ice may be at risk from personal injury claims, according to compensation claim solicitors.
With a blanket of snow and thick ice covering much of Britain, many are trying to keep the areas around their homes or businesses clear. In the past, people have simply cleared the snow from the front of their homes and shop fronts themselves, however, lawyers are warning that should someone slip on a treated section of pavement, those who do so may be liable for a personal injury claim.
While the councils are now clearing and salting some pavements, many more will still be left untreated.
As the pavements are rendered un-navigable by the ice and snow, for many residents it is a case of "damned if you do and damned if you don't" when it comes to the ice outside their front doors.
Risking a personal injury claim rather than risking a broken leg will no doubt be the favourable option for the countless people blocked in by the icy pavements.
