Personal injury claim after a cyclist sustained head injury

An elderly woman in Restalrig, Edinburgh, who suffered severe head injury after being thrown off of her bike on her way back from a shopping trip, may be entitled to make a personal injury claim from the driver responsible.

Luckily, there were six witnesses to the incident who were able to ensure the victim was taken immediately to the hospital. Even more fortunately, two of the witnesses were doctors and were able to look after her until the ambulance arrived.

The paramedics who attended the call administered medical treatment for 30 minutes before taking her to hospital. Reports state that the cyclist was drifting in and out of consciousness and was covered in a blanket to keep her comfortable.

Police reported that the driver of the car, which had clipped the bike, stopped at the scene and spoke to the police in order to assist them with their inquiries.

If the cyclist is found to be not at fault in the cycle accident she should be able to make a successful personal injury claim for compensation against the driver of the car which knocked her off her bike.
