Police appeal for witnesses of near fatal taxi accident

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner suffered serious personal injuries in a taxi accident in Portsmouth.

The 67-year-old woman was crossing the Milton Road on 29th October when she was hit by a passing taxi.

An ambulance arrived at the scene of the car accident and took the woman to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham where she received treatment for a fractured skull, broken legs and pelvis.

The driver of the blue Peugeot taxi, a 42-year-old man from Havant, was arrested in relation to the road accident and released on bail until January 2007.

Police are now urging anybody with information regarding the taxi accident to come forward and phone Cosham Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 4545.
