Passengers could make whiplash compensation claim for bus crash injuries
Passengers injured when two Stagecoach buses crashed in Kirkby may be able to make a whiplash compensation claim for their personal injuries.
At least 26 people were injured in the crash after the two single-decker buses collided at the bus station in Cherryfield Drive on the 6th October.
A total of 18 ambulances were sent to the scene of the road accident to treat passengers who had been injured whilst travelling on the number 20 and 197 buses.
One woman is known to have sustained a head injury in the crash and others are believed to have suffered slightly less serious personal injuries, including whiplash.
An ambulance spokesperson said, "We sent 18 ambulances, and a helicopter also had to be sent out to the scene.
"First reports were that there were around 20 casualties. Nobody has life-threatening injuries and no one was trapped."
Les Burton, operations manager, said Stagecoach would be investigating the accident.
He said, "Stagecoach buses will now examine CCTV footage from both buses and that will form part of the investigation."
In the future, people injured onboard the bus may consider making a passenger injury claim for whiplash compensation.
