Personal injury solicitors could help parents claim

A Canadian couple have contracted personal injury solicitors and made a compensation claim against a supermarket after their daughter choked on a rice cookie and later died from severe brain damage.

Lisa Scott and Ross Mayer, from Regina, Saskatchewan, made a claim against Shoppers Drug Mart for injury compensation after their daughter, Savanna, choked on a Baby Mum-Mum Rice Rusk, which had gelled inside her throat.

Ten-month-old Savannah was starved of oxygen as a result of the accident and suffered a severe brain injury. She died in hospital from her personal injuries 14 months later.

Her parents claim that the Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation and National Importer, who distributed the rice cakes, should have warned customers of the potential danger to young children.

Personal injury solicitor, Bill Maclsaac, said, "It's just a sad situation. A beautiful child has been lost here."

The case for injury compensation continues.
