Parking attendant wins claim

No-win, no-fee solicitors have secured a six-figure work injury payout for a parking attendant who suffered serious and long-lasting injuries in a December winter slip accident.

The 59-year-old attendant had been taking readings from parking meters when he slipped on black ice and came crashing to the ground, tearing his groin muscle in the process.

His no-win, no-fee solicitors detailed how since the accident, the man's injuries have forced him to retire from his job. They also said that complications stemming from his injuries mean it is impossible for him to seek alternative employment.

The man's former employer, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, agreed to pay out a total of £140,000 in accident compensation. The claim was made with the assistance of his union, Unite.

Following settlement, his no-win, no-fee solicitor commented, "In the winter [the man's employers] have an obligation to enforce a reasonable winter maintenance plan and they should have taken appropriate steps to ensure the car park was safe for all its users."
