Youth in hospital after dog attack
A family in Leeds has had to enlist the services of a no win, no fee solicitor after their son was savagely attacked by a dog.
The 13-year-old boy needed six stitches and was in hospital for two nights after being bitten in the face by what the family believe to be a Staffordshire bull terrier cross.
As the attack happened on private land, the police have no powers to seize the dog because the incident happened in the owner's front garden in Foster Square, Belle Isle.
The teenager had knocked on his neighbours' door before the dog ran out and bit him in the face.
If the attack had happened on public land, the dog would have been immediately seized by police and likely to have been destroyed.
The family now has to take civil action through a no win, no fee solicitor to seek personal injury compensation for their son.
