Personal injury news
No win, no fee claims made against Lancashire Council
Lancashire Council bosses are deterring people from making bogus no win, no fee claims after receiving more than £1million worth of accident compensation claims.
In the past two years Lancashire County Council has received a total of 463 personal injury compensation claims from people who have been involved in accidents on roads and pavements in Chorley and South Ribble.
Recent figures have shown that only £354,000 of the total £1.17 million claimed for was actually paid out to people who suffered a personal injury.
The council would like to make people aware that when they make a claim, either on a no win, no fee basis or not, their case will be fully assessed to make sure it is truthful and correct.
Coun Anne Brown, cabinet member for resources and performance said, "Whilst I sympathise with those who have a genuine case, I can only express dismay at the number of people trying to make a quick buck."
