Wheelchair accident claim
An Australian paraplegic man who suffered a blinding eye injury during a wheelchair accident at an AC DC concert in Brisbane, Queensland has said that he will seek to make a no-win, no-fee claim for accident compensation against the owners of the concert venue.
The no-win, no-fee claim would hinge on the question of whether the venue owners were negligent in not ensuring a secure viewing platform for disabled audience members.
AC DC were playing a set at the venue when the control handle of the 32-year-old prospective claimant's wheelchair was inadvertently knocked by his friend. The claimant then fell, face down, into the crowd, impaling his eye on a metal pole, which then entered his brain.
Although the man is expected to make good recovery, he has permanently lost the sight in his injured eye and has said that he will seek 100 percent compensation for his injury.
He told press, "As I went off the edge I instinctively put my hands up to cover my face. I remember thinking, ‘S**t, this is going to hurt'.
He also confirmed that he would be seeking to make a no-win, no-fee claim. "All there was was a bit of yellow tape in front of us. No barricades or anything. I'm going to see my solicitor and we'll go from there," he said.
