Motorcycle crash claim possible after death of motorcyclist
A motorcycle crash claim might not be possible for the family of a 50-year-old biker who died from his personal injuries in Kingston in a rush hour traffic accident.
The fatal accident occurred near Fairfield Park on Fairfield Street after apparently he lost control of his motorbike.
Reportedly the rider fell from his motorbike when it skidded. The vehicle was then apparently "catapulted" 50 metres across the highway.
A witness to the incident said, "The motorcycle rider seemed unconscious as the paramedics were performing CPR for a number of minutes."
Three ambulances arrived at the scene, as well as the police. A helicopter was kept on standby in Fairfield Park.
The casualty was taken to St Georges Hospital as a priority case, but later died at the hospital despite medical attention.
The Road Death Investigation Unit based at Hampton Traffic Garage is investigating events leading up to the incident in a bid to determine who, if anyone, is liable for the rider's death.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated, "It is not thought any other vehicle was involved in the collision."
If this statement is correct, no other motorist is responsible for the man's unfortunate death so the family of the deceased will not be able to make a motorcycle crash claim for their loss.
