Product liability compensation may be paid for sofa skin injuries
As many as 500 UK consumers could be entitled to receive product liability compensation after it has emerged that certain sofas sold by retail chain ARGOS cause a severe dermatological allergic reaction.
Any product liability compensation claims that affected consumers decide to make would be likely to benefit from supporting medical evidence, which in the case of those who had to be admitted to hospital for treatment to their allergic reaction should not be too much trouble.
Symptoms suffered by people who sat on the sofas include itchy, blistered skin and pronounced discomfort. Many of those who reported being affected by the Chinese manufactured sofas said that their symptoms took several weeks to develop.
Although the defective sofas have now been recalled, some expect there to be a resurgence in the number of consumers who contact personal injury solicitors to claim product liability compensation after BBC television programme Watchdog ran a story on the sofas in February.
