MoD expected to pay claims
The families of UK army servicemen who suffered fatal injuries when the Nimrod spy plane they were travelling in exploded in airspace over Afghanistan are in line to receive around £1 million personal injury compensation.
However, with the Ministry of Defence still in negotiations with the personal injury lawyers representing the affected families, the amounts of compensation expected to be awarded is still subject to change.
It has also been reported that MoD officials are taking a hard-line approach to the personal injury compensation claims, with some newspapers claiming that they will only pay out the money if the families involved agree to accept it as a final settlement.
One of the accident compensation lawyers representing the personal injury compensation claims, a leading barrister, commented, "The main aim of those I represent is for those responsible for what happened to be held to account."
