Man injured by explosion in accident at work
A man was rushed to hospital after suffering serious personal injuries in an explosion at a mine-clearing business in Scotland.
The man, thought to be in his mid 60s, is believed to have suffered arm and leg injuries in the accident at work at Aardvark Clear Mine near Insch in Aberdeenshire.
The man was getting rid of explosives in a contained area when the explosion occurred on the 12th October.
An air ambulance was called to the scene of the workplace accident and the man was taken to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with severe burn injuries.
Grampian Police Chief Inspector, Roger Dunridge, said, "The incident occurred while explosives were being disposed of within a self-contained area.
"It was decided to call in the air ambulance because he would have had to be driven over rough terrain in a road ambulance."
The Health and Safety Executive were informed about the accident at work and may later carry out an investigation into the explosion.
