Man makes personal injury claim against NHS
A man who claims that his severe memory loss and mental illness were caused through medical negligence at birth has made a £3 million personal injury claim.
Thomas James Phillips was born at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital on 6th June 1983 and claims that doctors failed to monitor his heart beat correctly.
He believes that if doctors had noted that his heart beat was irregular and induced the labour, he would not have suffered the subsequent brain damage.
The claim for birth injury compensation is being made through Thomas' father against the South Central Strategic Authority.
The family's personal injury solicitor believes that Thomas's personal injuries could have been prevented if a speedy delivery was carried out.
The Strategic Health Authority denies any part of medical negligence on their part and have questioned the amount of his personal injury claim.
