Investigation could be launched into man's fatal work accident
A Texas man has been killed in a work accident after a conveyor belt dragged him under a metal roller used to grind grain.
John Hardy, 52, of League City, was crushed to death in an industrial accident on 11th October as he tried to repair a conveyor belt.
For some unknown reason the conveyor belt was activated and Mr Hardy was pulled into the machine, sustaining serious personal injuries.
Mr Hardy was assistant maintenance superintendent for ADM Grain Co.'s Galverston facility and had worked in the department for nearly 30 years.
Spokesperson for Galverston County Medical Examiner's Office, John Florence, commented on the accident and said: "it looks like he was killed instantly."
Following the fatal accident, officials said that Mr Hardy had shut off the machine and locked the controls. He was later found at the scene of the accident with the keys to the controls.
An investigation may be launched to examine the work accident and determine how the machine became activated when Mr Hardy had followed necessary safety requirements.
