Man hurt in horrific work accident

A man is in a critical condition in hospital following an horrific work accident at a factory in Manchester.

The incident occurred at metal plating firm in the Leigh area of the city and saw the 62-year-old fall into a vat of potassium cyanide.

Two colleagues who witnessed the terrible accident at work rushed to pull the man out of the toxic chemical and emergency services were summoned to the scene.

Firefighters wearing protective gear removed the man's clothing and hosed him down in an attempt to decontaminate him. He was then rushed to hospital where doctors immediately set about treating his burn injuries. The two workers that rescued him from the vat also had to be attended to by paramedics after going into shock.

The Health and Safety Executive is currently investigating the work accident and it is possible that the injured man could be in a position to consult a personal injury solicitor to make a no win no fee compensation claim for industrial accident damages.
