Man awarded personal injury compensation for brain damage
A man who decided to study law at university so he could fight his own case has been awarded £235,000 in personal injury compensation for a vicious street attack.
Neil Harpman, of High Street, Stanton Hill, suffered serious personal injuries after being approached by two men in an unprovoked attack in 1993.
Mr Harpman sustained a fractured skull and has been left with permanent brain damage and poor vision.
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority awarded Mr Harpman £30,000 in compensation but he felt that sum of money was too low.
After enrolling on a law degree course at the University of Derby in 1999, he took his own compensation claim to court and was awarded a total of £235,000 in personal injury compensation.
