Accident claim news
Fighter pilot contacts personal injury solicitors
A former trainee fighter pilot has made a £1.7 million accident claim against the Ministry of Defence after sustaining serious injuries during a training exercise.
Paul Hanks of Seahill Road, Chester, contacted personal injury solicitors after he reportedly suffered a neck injury whilst flying with an instructor in August 2000.
In his claim for injury compensation, Mr Hanks says that his instructor took control of the Hawk jet and performed a high-G turn without giving any warning.
Although he went on to obtain his pilot's wings, he retired from the navy in 2004 on the grounds of medical problems.
Mr Hanks' barrister commented on his current standard of living and said, "He is extremely limited, for example, in his ability to regularly sit or stand still for any length of time, and to use a computer or keyboard or to sit and write. He is dependant on regular pain killers."
Solicitors working on behalf of the MoD have insisted that Mr Hanks' personal injuries were not caused by the instructor's manoeuvre.
Personal injury solicitors are currently working with Mr Hanks in a bid to win injury compensation for the workplace accident.
