Man consults personal injury solicitors after bike crash

A man who has become obsessed with his mobile phone after being seriously injured in a motorcycle accident has consulted personal injury solicitors with a view to making a £4million compensation claim.

28-year-old Kunal Lindsay suffered extensive head injuries when his BMW motorbike collided with a car in September 2002 and he now spends hours every day playing with his phone. He also has problems remembering where he is and is unable to go shopping on his own in case he comes home with needless luxuries.

A moving statement by his wife Susan was read out in London's High Court and told how, "Shopping with Kunal is like shopping with a small child.

"He wants to buy everything without thought for the cost and tries to bully me into buying things."

She also revealed that if she didn't encourage him, he "would not get anything done and just drift around" and that in meetings with his personal injury solicitors he would send text messages under the table "as if no one will notice".

The court also heard how Mr Lindsay's brain injuries mean he will be unable to work again and any damages awarded were "likely to be very substantial indeed".

The insurers of the car driver involved in the 2002 road traffic accident have accepted liability and another court hearing will be held early next year to establish how much personal injury compensation will be awarded to Mr Lindsay.
