Lorry accident compensation claim after cyclist knocked off bike
A 30-year-old cyclist was taken to the Royal London Hospital with severe personal injury to his leg and pelvic area following an accident involving a tipper lorry in Hackney Road, Bethnal Green, East London. He may be entitled to make a lorry accident compensation claim.
At Bethnal Green's Minerva estate, which is nearby, families have been complaining about the lack of safety where the road crosses Temple Street and Prichard's Row. They have been appealing to Tower Hamlets council to take action for several months.
A resident told one press reporter, "You drive through or try to cross the road at risk at all times of the day - but even more so in rush hour."
Two years ago Pritchard's Row was widened and the pedestrian crossing was moved, and this is apparently when the road's safety declined.
The change in the highway's layout means that traffic which is coming onto Hackney Road from a side street is blocked from going ahead or turning right and, as a resident explained, "As soon as drivers see gaps, they put their foot down and shoot across - you don't see them and they don't see you until the last second".
The injured cyclist, who may be entitled to make a lorry accident compensation claim following the bike crash, is now in reported to be in stable condition.
