Police suffer neck injury as teenager flees in van
A Kent teenager has been arrested this week over causing injury to chasing police forces, including whiplash, bitemarks and a kicked dog.
The boy was spotted acting suspiciously on a Herne Bay road, and sped off in a white van when police approached him. He drove over stingers deployed by the officers, continuing on flat tyres until further officers blocked a road with their cars - at which point the boy leapt from the van and continued running.
At this point a dog and his handler was able to stop the boy, although he still caused personal injury to both handler and dog in the ensuing fight. He has been arrested under suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, assaulting a police officer and injuring a dog.
It is thought to be fortunate that a serious road traffic accident was not a result of the chase. However, the two police officers who suffered whiplash did so when they had their car crashed into by the teenager's van.
