Hotel has food poisoning on menu four years running
Holidaymakers who stayed at a hotel in the Dominican Republic are set to make no win, no fee claims for compensation following reports of an outbreak of food poisoning among guests there.
This would not be the first time the hotel's owners have faced no win, no fee claims for holiday illness compensation, having been the subject of claims in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
A personal injury lawyer with experience of representing holiday claims against the hotel commented on news of the latest outbreak. He said that holidaymakers have "suffered severe bouts of sickness and diarrhoea which they suspect was caused by eating contaminated food".
He added, "We are investigating the complaints and suspect it is a repeat of the same type of outbreak at the same hotel complex experienced in previous years."
He also offered advice to anyone considering making a no win, no fee claim for holiday accident or illness, telling press, "If you find yourself on holiday anywhere and fall ill through what you suspect is no fault of your own, make sure you make a formal complaint to the tour rep, keep all receipts for medicines purchased and the packaging of the medicines taken. Photographic evidence is also useful if it can highlight any inadequacies in hotel standards."
