Woman may make product liability claim over frog

A woman from Leicestershire is consulting personal injury lawyers about possible product liability compensation since she said she was made ill by drinking wine from a bottle contaminated by a frog.

It was during a Boxing Day family dinner that the woman was shocked to see a tiny frog drop into her glass from the bottle of white Spanish wine she had been drinking and which she said had made her feel ill ever since.

She returned the wine and the frog to the Asda store where she bought it and has been in dispute with the giant retail company since then. She refused an offer of £15 of vouchers in recompense for her distress but she said she wanted to take legal action to prevent others suffering.

Asda says it has investigated with its supplier and does not know how the creature could have got into the bottle.

In an effort to receive adequate recompense for her personal injury, the woman has asked the environmental health deportment of her local council to investigate.

The solicitor she has consulted about a potential product liability case is quoted in the Press as saying Asda has a duty to provide food and drink which is safe to consume.
