Payout out for factory incident
A young athlete who once had realistic dreams of competing in the high jump at the 2012 Olympics has won a six-figure sum of forklift accident compensation.
The forklift accident compensation claimant, who was 17 at the time of the incident, sustained a shattered shin bone after being struck on the leg by a fork lift while couriering a package to a factory warehouse.
"I knew straight away it was really bad, the pain was unbearable," said the claimant.
Sadly, the former Olympic hopeful had only taken the courier job as a means of earning extra cash to support his athletics training, but following his work injury, he needed to undergo one-year's rehabilitation and now has been forced to seek employment that places no pressure on his injured leg.
The no win, no fee solicitor who represented the young man's claim successfully argued that there was inadequate separation between heavy machinery and on-foot workers in the warehouse, clearing the way for settlement.
Of his forklift accident compensation payout, the claimant said, "It doesn't get me to the Olympics, but does help me get my feet back on the ground. Hopefully this will help prevent something like this happening again."
